Mission
A sisterhood of trans women of color empowering, building and strengthening each other. Ensuring that we all have a seat at the table.
Vision
To create a safe space for trans women to be themselves with no judgement. To break down all barriers when it comes to health care and living a safer life.
About Divas in Dialogue
In the heart of Central Florida, a beacon of empowerment shines bright for marginalized communities. Divas in Dialogue (DiD), a grassroots initiative, emerged from the visionary leadership of Mulan, a transgender woman of color intimately familiar with the obstacles hindering access to vital services. With a resolute spirit, Mulan founded DiD to confront the intersecting challenges facing Transgender Women of Color (TGWC), Men of Color who have Sex with Men (MCSM), nonbinary individuals (NB), and the broader LGBTQ+ spectrum, including those engaged in sex work.
At its core, DiD is a collective of trans women of color, bound by a shared commitment to mutual empowerment, support, and upliftment. This sisterhood embodies resilience, offering a sanctuary where individuals can freely express themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination. Their mission is crystal clear: to ensure inclusivity and representation for all, ensuring every voice finds resonance and significance.
DiD’s approach is both proactive and inclusive, encapsulated in their ‘boots to the streets’ methodology. This strategy, born from lived experiences, enables the organization to effectively engage with hard-to-reach populations, bridging gaps in services and support.
**Empowering through Sisterhood**
Central to DiD’s ethos is the concept of empowerment through sisterhood. Within this tight-knit community, unity and support flourish, providing each member with the nourishment needed to thrive and succeed. By fostering an environment of solidarity and understanding, DiD paves the way for personal growth and collective resilience.
**Championing Inclusivity and Representation**
In DiD, inclusivity isn’t just a buzzword – it’s a guiding principle. The organization is unwavering in its commitment to ensuring that every voice, regardless of identity or background, is not only heard but valued. Through diverse representation and inclusive practices, DiD strives to dismantle systemic barriers and create spaces where all individuals feel seen, heard, and respected.
**Advocating for Trans Rights and Health Equity**
DiD is not content with merely existing – it seeks to catalyze change. Through relentless advocacy and activism, the organization champions the rights and well-being of trans individuals, advocating for policies that promote safety, dignity, and equitable access to healthcare. By amplifying marginalized voices and challenging systemic injustices, DiD embodies the transformative power of community-driven action.
**Empowering Through Access**
Patrons of DiD gain access to a comprehensive cohort of resources and support services aimed at fostering holistic well-being. From HIV/STI education to self-defense training, career readiness workshops, and access to vital healthcare interventions like PrEP and nPEP, DiD leaves no stone unturned in its pursuit of a safer, more fulfilling life for all members of the community.
In the tapestry of Central Florida’s LGBTQ+ landscape, Divas in Dialogue stands tall as a beacon of hope and resilience. Through solidarity, advocacy, and unwavering dedication, DiD continues to pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
